Decoration interior mirror tiles – a fashion trend.
Therefore, like everything fashionable, it can become obsolete.
In order not to be disappointed in your choice, you should familiarize yourself with some of the nuances of “Through the Looking Glass” at the stage of interior design.
I’ll start with the most attractive side of the issue, the aesthetic …
Do not use mirror tiles to simply decorate a wall. For this there is finished mirror panels and Vinyl stickers that are easy to remove when decor gets boring or goes out of style.

DESIGN TECHNIQUES
… or when mirror tiles in the interior are a plus.
What can a large reflective surface do for an interior?
For example, add more light to it. To do this, it is enough to place a mirror panel on the wall near the window, on slopes, around lighting devices, in the upper part of the wall.
The rays of light reflected by the amolgam will at least double.

Create the illusion of another window it is easy in the interior: from large tiles to fold a double-leaf “window” into the floor with lintels made of wood, MDF … This trick works as an imitation of access to the terrace. Flowers in tall pots nearby will enhance the effect.

Disguise the “extra” object sometimes happens simply necessary: the door to the dressing room, another room, a bathroom creates a feeling of a passage space, which deprives the interior of comfort. No door, no problem.

The same applies to separating partitions or a free-standing wall. Initially, they are designed to zone the space, but the aesthetic side of the issue may suffer from such a functional solution. After all, the area of \u200b\u200beach zone is less than the whole interior. Mirror surfaces will help correct this shortcoming.

Expand space, creating the illusion of depth with the help of reflection – the main task of the mirror panel. By the way, the latter does not have to occupy the entire area. Sometimes a few mirror fragments are enough.
The more the plane is crushed and the less often the mirror puzzle is placed, the less will be the feeling of being in the dance class of a ballet school)))

A few words about crushing…
Here, designers adhere to the rule of proportions: the size of an individual tile corresponds to the parameters of the surface on which it is mounted.

WHERE YOU SHOULD NOT MOUNT A MIRROR PANEL
A kitchen apron in the stove area is a vulnerable spot, especially if the kitchen, as expected, is often cooked. Attempts to remove fatty deposits with aggressive household chemicals are fraught with the destruction of the amolgam.
Walls from the floor to the level of a person’s waist are at risk if the room is rather narrow. This applies to the bathroom and hallway. You will simply get tired of tidying up the surface of the tile.
Mirror doors to utility rooms are a wise decision, but they will require a handle with a long stem so that when using the hand, the hand does not touch the mirror surface.
The ceiling is not the best place for mounting mirrors (the exception is coffered ceilings). If you want to visually increase the volume of the room, it is better to use a glossy stretch ceiling for this purpose.
If the task is to increase the illumination, it is much more effective to place the mirror strip not on the ceiling, but in the area of the cornice on the wall.
WHAT IS A MIRROR TILE
The design possibilities of mirror tiles are limited by two factors: color and edge processing.
Variable color of amalgam: silver, graphite, bronze, gold.
Edge finishing: frieze (cutting the edge at an angle), polishing the end part.
Cutting standard: a rectangle with a side of at least 150 mm, ready-made frieze is available for sale (minimum size 50 mm).
Non-standard: only on order with all the ensuing consequences.
The thickness varies between 4-6 mm.
Maximum sheet size: 3210 mm x 2250 mm.
FEATURES OF INSTALLATION
All mirror panels are mounted on liquid Nailshowever, not every glue is suitable for these purposes.
IMPORTANT: installation on specialized glue for mirrors.
Carefully read the purpose of the adhesive on the package, including what surfaces (material, roughness, gloss) it can provide adhesion to the mirror.
For those who are interested, I offer a very brief overview of the properties and price gradation of mirror glue.
The acrylic composition of the adhesive is suitable for mirrors, but will not be able to provide adhesion to metal and ceramics.
Neoprene (rubber) filler will ensure the adhesion of the mirror to any material. It has a pungent odor, so you should work in a respirator and in a well-ventilated area.
Neither the first nor the second material is an adhesive in itself. To bring the composition to the state of the adhesive mass, a reagent is required.
Solvent-based glue is the most budget option. However, you should carefully read the inscription on the package: if it is for gluing glass, then it is definitely not suitable for a mirror, as it will damage the amalgam.
There is a specialized solvent-based adhesive for mounting mirrors.
The middle price segment is represented by silicone-based glue. Silicone is chemically neutral, therefore safe for a gentle coating on the back.
High-quality compounds that a beginner can easily handle include hybrid-based glue.
MOISTURE RESISTANCE depends on the composition of the mirror amalgam. It can be silver or aluminum. The first tends to darken from prolonged contact with water. Therefore, for wet rooms, aluminum-coated mirrors should be chosen.

Most mirrors, including mirror tiles, are silver-coated, but there is a way out. If the ends of the mirror are protected with varnish, then it will last a long time even in a “wet” place. The procedure for applying varnish is done in the factory at the request of the customer (although not all manufacturers provide this service).

Two dozen ways to enlarge a room
It is no secret that most interiors have dimensions that are far from the wishes of their owners. And even when we have the opportunity to design a house from scratch, the desire to save on space for the sake of reducing costs is stronger. Checked on personal experience)))

The tradition of decorating the interior floor with tiles came to us from the Mediterranean countries. Later, this practical idea “crawled” onto the walls. You may or may not like such a unique and comfortable finishing material, but it is quite difficult to completely abandon it in the interior.
