My old house already has a real fireplace, but in the new one, I still plan to lay out the oven and make a decorative version.

The reason is simple: the stove is necessary as a functional, and in addition to it, make a fireplace with a closed firebox (open to white interior is not suitable) for a budget building – unreasonably expensive.

Imitation of a fireplace insert is not only an economical option for romantics, it is a way out of a situation where it is technically impossible to make a chimney in a room.

Actual for the inhabitants of high-rises and just apartments.

Of all the options for imitation, I personally always prefer those where it is as reliable as possible. That is, if it is a fireplace, then there must be a fireplace portal and a flame. These requirements are met by two types of “fiery” decor: a bio-fireplace and a fireplace with candles.

And since it is not a problem to buy a biofireplace burner and candles, today we are talking about how the framing of the fire source – the portal – might look like.
WHAT TO MAKE A DECORATIVE FIREPLACE FROM

A real fireplace is laid out of brick. But the material is heavy, it gives a load on the floors. Yes, and the design will be stationary. And most decorative fireplaces are mobile designs.

Bestuy the base material for the false fireplace is a plasterboard box. It is easy to install even for a beginner.
Why is drywall so good?
The design, thanks to the metal frame, is rigid.

Finishing on GKL, you can choose any from plastering to pasting with flexible stone or tiles.

Will add chic to the design of the future fireplace “stucco” and moldings made of polyurethane, expanded polystyrene. However, the classic material – gypsum – is not excluded.

It all depends on your skill and budget.

Imitation of a wooden portal is best done from plywood with a thickness of 12 mm or more. To fasten the cut out elements together in a box, you can use the corners and small self-tapping screws (10 mm), called “fleas” by the finishers.

It is better to mount thinner plywood on a metal frame (as for plasterboard structures).

To finish the plywood base, I recommend choosing carved rosettes and wood moldings. A clear matt acrylic lacquer is suitable for finishing. It is tinted in the desired color with a universal pigment. The varnish dries quickly and is almost odorless.
WHICH FINISHING TO CHOOSE FOR RECORDING “FURNACE”
This part of the fireplace portal should be given special attention, because the fireplace will be decorative, which means that every detail in it matters.
Brick-like gypsum or clinker tiles are a classic when there is a need to emphasize the maximum authenticity of the appearance of the fireplace.
Finishing the firebox with other tile options will attract increased interest in it (after all, this is beyond tradition). Therefore, the fireplace portal itself can be made “more modest”.
This technique is suitable for modern interior styles.
NUANCE: the larger the firebox, the larger the tile should be chosen.
The reflective surface on the back wall of the firebox, be it a mirror, mirror tiles or mosaic, will create the illusion of depth and enhance the effect of lighting during burning (candles, biofireplace, garlands or just light bulbs).
WHAT IS BETTER: A BURNER OR CANDLES?
Of course, a lit burner of a biofireplace with a play of flames will create the maximum illusion of authenticity. But massive thick candles of different heights look so elegant!

My opinion: when the fireplace portal is made according to all the canons, the biofireplace will be the best option for “fire”.

And if the hearth is conceived as a “chip” of the interior, only candles can be better than candles …
IMPORTANT: open fire requires compliance with fire safety rules:
  • the walls of the furnace must not be made of flammable material,
  • the distance from the flame to the side and rear walls should not be less than 15 cm,
  • from the top point of the flame to the top of the “fireplace” firebox, a distance is observed that does not allow the material to heat up (it can be determined empirically even before the start of design – just hold the tile over the candle, adjusting the height).

It will be absolutely safe to decorate the firebox with LED candles, garlands, logs, figurines, books and even flowers …

FIREPLACE IN A COUPLE OF HOURS

If the interior design does not at all imply the presence of a fireplace portal in it, and sometimes you still want a little romance, you can build a structure symbolizing a fireplace from a console table, if any)))

Put a narrow table on high legs against the wall at the point that is in the center of attention (opposite the sofa, armchairs, etc.). Place a mirror on it (at least half the length of the countertop), leaning against the wall.
Decorate the tabletop (“mantelpiece”) with garlands and other attributes that match the theme of the celebration.
Place a non-combustible base (large tiles, glass, metal tray) on the floor under the table (we have a “fireplace insert”). From above, you can put a “battery” of candles, and behind it, lean a mirror against the wall to enhance the glow effect.

FALSE FIREPLACE DESIGN

What else to read on the site:

The decision to settle in the space under the roof is quite reasonable and rational. In addition to the fact that the attic is the most romantic place in the house overlooking the Milky Way, it is also the treasured square meters of additional living space. Here you can equip a relaxation room and a winter garden, a games room …

to me for some reason, it always seemed that a beautiful combination of color palettes is the result of the artist’s brilliant memory and the unrealistic talent of an interior designer. But having plunged into the world of design, it became clear that correctly placing color accents is within the power of a person, …

Decoration interior mirror tiles – a fashion trend. Therefore, like everything fashionable, it can become obsolete. In order not to be disappointed in your choice, you should familiarize yourself with some of the nuances of “Through the Looking Glass” at the stage of interior design.

The tradition of decorating the interior floor with tiles came to us from the Mediterranean countries. Later, this practical idea “crawled” onto the walls. You may or may not like such a unique and comfortable finishing material, but it is quite difficult to completely abandon it in the interior.
