Together with the well-forgotten old style, the loft style and a completely new solution took off at the peak of fashion: metal eyelets, which were used on awnings, confidently took their place on such a homely and cozy decor element as curtains and even tulle …

Approximately the same thing happened with hinged curtains: someone remembered that once upon a time the fabric was simply tied to the eaves with ribbons.
I remembered, I thought: is it possible not to tie the ribbons, but simply make them wider, and replace the tying technology with something simpler?
Loops and ties can be sewn both to the even upper edge of the curtain, and to the arched one (for arched windows). But there are models when the loops are attached to the bottom and they serve as a holder for a decorative rod.

In most cases, it is customary to make the distance between the loops 2-3 times greater than the width of the loop. It is about 10-20 cm.
Standard for the loop: width 5 cm, height 10 cm. However, this is not an axiom, and if the design of the loop requires it, they make it wider, longer, shorter.
When they want to make the canvas stretched along the cornice, the loops are made standard or wide, and the distance between them is about 10 cm.
If it is necessary to make sagging, then the distance between the loops is increased to 15-20 cm, and the curtain itself is made 1.2-1.5 times wider than the eaves.
The loops themselves can be “deaf” (both edges are sewn into the facing of the curtain) or open (one edge is fastened in front with a button or behind with a “burdock”).
The choice between the first and second is a matter of taste, but the latter option is more convenient to take off and put on the ledge.
A few words about the cornice. The traditional option is a rod. The hinges on the curtains (or vice versa 🙂 will become an exquisite addition to it and will favorably emphasize its (cornice) beauty.
It is very inconvenient to move the curtain on hinges along the rod cornice. Therefore, either fixed curtain design models are chosen, or Teflon substrates are placed under the hinges. You can find them in hardware stores.
Drawstring curtains are designed so that they do not have to be moved.

Modern and in some places urbanistic method hanging stringing a curtain on a rod cornice – punch holes in it for eyelets.
Eyelet – a round metal edging of holes used in awnings and tailoring of leather products.
For textile design, where products are subjected not only to dry cleaning, but also to washing, metal is not the best solution. Therefore, it was replaced with plastic, since it gives a lot of design variations: round, oval, square, diamond-shaped and even eyelets in the form of stars…
Fastening a plastic eyelet is simple: a hole is cut in the fabric along the inner diameter of the eyelet, then one part of the fastening is inserted into the hole, and on the other side, the second half is applied (the fabric is between two plastic parts), pressed until a characteristic click.
NUANCE: when an eyelet is inserted into the hole, the fabric should not fall into the joint between the halves, it is carefully pushed back (if thin) or the hole is made 2 mm larger (another 1 mm of fabric is cut if the fabric is thick).

The eyelet will hold tight if the fabric is pre-compacted: a wide hem of the top (not less than 3 cm wider than the outer size of the eyelet), glue inside with interlining or even doubler, make a wide edging.
The number of eyelets on one curtain is always made in pairs so that the edges of the curtain look in one direction (usually towards the window).
Calculate the number of eyelets simple: divide the width of the finished curtain first by 20, write down the number, then divide by 25 and write down the second number. A larger even number (without rounding) will be the desired one.
For example: from a pair of 12.5 and 9.7, choose the number 12, from a pair of 11.4 and 8.9, choose 10 (the greater even closest to 11.4).

Roman curtains: where and what are appropriate
Roman blinds have recently experienced their rebirth and “climbed” to the peak of popularity among textile window decoration. The development of a minimalist trend in interior design has aroused the interest of decorators in this concise and elegant element of window design.

to me for some reason, it always seemed that a beautiful combination of color palettes is the result of the artist’s brilliant memory and the unrealistic talent of an interior designer. But having plunged into the world of design, it became clear that correctly placing color accents is within the power of a person, …
